Spanish Classroom Words & Vocabulary

School is the place where we acquire a huge portion of our knowledge, and most of this learning is done in the classroom. However, to make sure proper learning occurs, good communication must take place.

Today, I have compiled for you a list of Spanish classroom words. I will list some of the most commonly used Spanish class vocab as well as a separate section dedicated to Spanish classroom items vocabulary.

Without further ado:

El aula – Classroom
“Están renovando nuestro aula.” – “They are renovating our classroom.”

Estudiar – To study
“Paolo se olvidó de estudiar para el examen.” – “Paolo forgot to study for the exam.”

Repasar – To revise
“La maestra nos pidió que repasar para el examen de mañana.” – “The teacher asked us to review for the test tomorrow.”

Tarea – Homework
“¿Hiciste tu tarea?” – “Did you do your homework?”

Leer – To read
“Voy a leer el libro esta noche.” – “I’m going to read the book tonight.”

Escribir – To write
“Es muy difícil escribir un ensayo cuando tienes sueño.” – “It is very difficult to write an essay when you are sleepy.”

Aprobar (una materia/una prueba) – To pass (a subject/a test)
“Martin está intentando aprobar el prueba.” – “Martin is trying to pass the test.”

Reprobar (una materia/una prueba) – To fail (a subject/a test)
“Se espera que Gabriel reprobar el prueba.” – “Gabriel is expected to fail the test.”

Spanish Classroom Items Vocabulary

La pizarra – Blackboard
“¡Por favor, limpie la pizarra!” – “Please clean the blackboard!”

La tiza – Chalk
“¿A dónde se fue la tiza?” – “Where did the chalk go?”

El marcador – Marker
“Compré un marcador rojo en la librería.” – “I bought a red market from the bookstore.”

El borrador – Eraser (for blackboards)
“¿Puedes darme el borrador?” – “Can you give me the eraser?”

El escritorio/El pupitre – Desk
“Todos los estudiantes deben mantener limpios sus escritorios.” – “All students must keep their desks clean.”

La silla/El banco – Chair
“Dora rompió la silla.” – “Dora broke the chair.”

La mochila/El morral – Backpack
“Lucy acaba de comprar una mochila nueva.” – “Lucy just bought a new backpack.”

El libro – Book
“¡Abran sus libros en la página 42!” – “Open your books to page 42!”

El cuaderno – Notebook

El papel – Paper

El lápiz – Pencil

El sacapuntas – Pencil sharpener

El bolígrafo – Pen
“¿Me puede prestar su bolígrafo?” – “May I borrow your pen?”

La goma – Eraser (rubber in British English)
“Dejé mi goma en casa. “ – “I left my eraser at home.”

La tijeras – Scissors
“¡Ten cuidado cuando uses tijeras!” – “Be careful when using scissors!”

La regla – Ruler
“Usa la regla para dibujar el cuadrado.” – “Use the ruler to draw the square.”

El estuche/La cartuchera – Pencil case
“El estuche de lápices de María es muy bonito.” – “Maria’s pencil case is very pretty.”
